Puppy-Proofing Your House

Before you get your new loveable companian, you need to make sure you have a safe home for it. First make sure that nothing is dangling down like curtains or towels. Puppies will see that as a tug-of-war toy. Then make sure that nothing breakable is on the ground or on top of a high table. Your puppy might knock it down and make it break. Make sure that you have no poison some harmful spray that your puppy can reach and eat or lick. Poison for rats is liable to kill a puppy. Make sure you have a bunch of soft, squishy, and rubber toys for your puppy that are fun and squeaky to play with so that your puppy won't be tempted to chew on shoes and furniture. If your puppy starts chewing on your furniture, then you can buy a type of spray at any pet store called bitter apple spray that is totally pet and furniture safe. Spray it on the area that your puppy is chewing on and your puppy will eventually stop. Make sure that any visible cord is hidden. When you first bring your puppy home you should have plenty of toys, puppy food, doggie bags, blankets, a collar, leash, bowls, a harness, dog tags, registration papers, a crate, dog bed, and a safe and quiet room to out your puppy in.

Puppies Training To Be Potty Trained

The first thing you need to do is get a wee wee pad. You put the wee wee pad somewhere down on the ground in the corner or where there is less traffic. When you dog pees on the ground, take a paper towel and dip it in the urine. Then wipe the urine on the wee wee pad and hold the pad up to the puppies nose and let it sniff the pad. Put the pad down and repeat whenever your puppy releives itself on the floor again. Immediately take your puppy to the pad when it releives itself. When your puppy has a bowel movement then pick up the bowel with a doggy bag and put it on the pad and then throw the bowel again. Then take your puppy and let it sniff the pad. Eventually, if you keep an eye on the puppy and repeat this often, your puppy will learn to pee on the pad.

To housebreak your puppy, take your puppy outside whenever it releives itself. You may do the same procedure with the paper towel on the grass outside too. Your puppy will eventually pick up the procedure and soon learn that outside is its bathroom.

Puppies Training To "Sit Pretty" Or Do "Up"

The first thing you have to do is find the kind of treat your dog likes most. Afterwards you need to make your sit. Then, you hold the treat above its nose and slowly bring it up above its head higer and higher until your dog has to get up ontis hind legs. Once your dog does that then you bring it a little higher than its head. Say "Sit Pretty" or "Up" and give your dog its treat. Reward your dog and repeat about five times a day. Repeat this until your dog knows the command.
